CASSIUS

Cassius has been learning full force from the day he was born, full of joy, intelligence, curiosity and empathy. We’ve been running behind him trying to keep up ever since, having a lot of fun and learning a lot ourselves along the way.

Cassius turned eight last May. He has always been very social and easy going. He gets along with everyone and playing for hours with his friends is important to him. He has many interests – animals, books, art, history & climbing – to name just a few. I have observed that two of the key things that drive Cassius’ learning are stories and imagination. He is sincerely interested in people and loves to hear their stories and understand how they feel. He recently learned to read so all he wants to do now is read!

PARIS

Paris just turned three this June. He has a very different approach to life than Cassius. He is not interested in people so much as in things. If it has buttons or wheels on it he is in heaven. He won’t give a book the time of day, unless it has a truck in it.

Presently he is learning how to talk. His favourite words have “rrrrr” in them – like “trrruck” and “carrr”. He speaks with a thick German accent, which his father and I find curious.

He spends most of his time figuring out how things work – What does this button do? Where is that sound coming from? What happens if I do this? And most importantly he wants to figure it out and do it himself! I swear, if his legs were longer he could drive the car away. He likes to DO important things, like the dishes & cooking – and is actually is a good help sometimes.

With all his trouble making, he is a gentle, loving, sensitive soul just like is brother. It’s a wonderful gift to be able to see the world anew through their eyes.
